Lawson Mayfield lost her life to bacterial meningitis at 18 years of age.
To honor Lawson’s memory we have organized a foundation that will benefit the National Meningitis Association. The Lawson Mayfield Memorial Foundation is hosting the annual Run For Lawson, a 1 mile walk/run, 5k and 10k on Saturday, Oct. 6th. While meningitis was responsible for taking Lawson’s life, it did not take her spirit. Run For Lawson brought more than 650 registered walkers and runners while raising $35,000 for the National Meningitis Association in its first year. Thank you for all of your support!
Lawson loved to ride horses, to read, and to travel. She had an infectious laugh and insatiable curiosity that made her want to experience all life has to offer. Above all, she was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who made an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path. Even some who didn’t know Lawson benefited from her generosity as an organ donor.
We are honored to have you support this cause and Lawson. Your love and kindness means so much and will continue to help raise awareness on the dangers and prevention of bacterial meningitis. The proceeds from the foundation will go toward educating others about this disease and the safe, FDA-approved vaccine, that can help prevent the majority of adolescent cases.
Sincerely,
Emory and Cathy Mayfield
